How to Care for Extensions
- The first step is all about using a very gentle, professional clarifying shampoo. I recommend clarifying hair about once a month. I like to use the Unite Weekend Clarifying Shampoo. This shampoo will cleanse your hair of all the dirt, oil, and excess product build up. It is still gentle enough to use on extensions. Keep in mind that hair extensions are human hair, but they are not the same as your own hair. What may work on your hair may not work on the extensions. They need a little more patience, love, and care.
- After using the Unite Weekender Clarifying Shampoo (use the Unite 7 Second shampoo if you don’t need to clarify) I like to coat a little leave-in conditioner on the ends of the extensions. Unite’s 7 Second Leave-In Conditioner is my all time FAVORITE! It’s magic in a bottle! Leave-in conditioner is great because it nourishes the hair while leaving it soft and smooth. When needed, I coat the hair mid-shaft to ends, so it gives my hair that extra oomph it needs leaving the hair extra soft and silky for that polished look.
- After shampooing and conditioning my hair, my holy-grail product is Smooth and Shine. This product protects the hair from all the heat that is used on the hair, and also gives the hair a shine without it looking oily or weighing it down. I CANNOT live without these Unite products! As a hairstylist, it is my job to venture and discover other products that may work, but it’s just so hard because Unite is always guaranteed to work. After many years of trial and error, I have found the best products that truly work. Unite products have withstood the test of time and performed consistently, which makes it easy to depend on these products to care for extensions.
